| Titanium
and Niobium
Most of our body Jewelry is also available in the
following materials.

Titanium Titanium
is the least reactive of any metal used for body jewelry - ideal for those
sensitive to other materials. It is extremely durable, light weight, and comes
in a variety of anodized colors. High polished titanium looks almost exactly
like polished surgical steel. Titanium will not oxidize, rust, or corrode under
normal use. We use only the best 6AL4V grade material in all of our titanium
body jewelry. For information on black finish jewelry, please continue below.
Black Finish Titanium This
is actually a layer of titanium carbide which has been bonded to surgical steel.
Black finish jewelry is created using a chemical process called pressurized
vapor depositing (PVD), which leaves a very durable and lusterous coating of
titanium carbide behind. This coating has many of the same characteristics as
regular titanium, but is not as strong and light since the core is made from
steel. Many people prefer black finish jewelry for its glossy smooth finish.
Niobium
Niobium is an elemental metal (not man made)
and is slightly heavier than 316L stainless steel. If you are allergic to
stainless steel, niobium is a good alternative, but most people prefer titanium
because it is much lighter and about the same price.
